Hi! I’m Courtney and this is our
family blog. I thought this would be a good place to keep friends and family up
to date on our kiddos and our current adoption journey, show off Ian’s newest
woodworking creations, and share any tasty baking recipes or good books I come
across!
We have truly become the berry
family over the past five years. When I was pregnant with our first son, Gavin,
I received weekly email updates about his current size in comparison with a
fruit or vegetable. When we first told my family I was
pregnant (Christmas 2011), he was the size of a blueberry. The nickname stuck! A best friend of
mine even bought him an infant size blueberry hat for his newborn photos. When
I was pregnant with our second son, Hudson, he was the size of a raspberry when
we told family about him. We wanted to keep his nickname in the “berry family,”
so, of course he became our sweet raspberry and we bought a corresponding
newborn hat for him. And naturally, we also thought it was fitting to begin
calling our future daughter strawberry.
